Use the TMSIDATA batch utility program to assist new installations of CA 1 in building the initial TMC when an existing tape management system is not available for conversion.
The TMSIDATA program accepts as input list-only data sets from existing VSAM catalogs. Utilizing the keyed update capability of VSAM, TMSIDATA formats the data and builds correctly chained Volume and DSNB records for subsequent processing by TMSFORMT and TMSAGGR, respectively. You do not have to run TMSMULV to chain multivolume pointers. TMSIDATA restricts input data to IDCAMS and/or IEHLIST catalog listings. No other user data is accepted.
CA 1 can be active, batch active, or inactive to run TMSIDATA. If a TMC is currently active, it must be a nonextended TMC.
