Use the CTSPMTST utility to test the character strings or patterns that you have created for use in the various hlq.CTAPOPTN members or utility programs that support pattern masking.
A pattern consists of a combination of alphanumeric characters and special characters that perform unique masking operations during match and compare functions for the purpose of identifying and selecting data sets. The rules for defining a pattern are discussed in the Programming Guide.
Once you have created your patterns, test them by executing the CTSPMTST utility. CTSPMTST checks each pattern for conformity to the rules of structure and syntax required by the CA 1 Pattern Masking Facility and produces printed output to aid in resolving invalid pattern errors.
CA 1 can be active, batch active or inactive to run CTSPMTST.
