Alternate Procedure

Another method to remove data sets from VMS control is to do the following:

  1. Issue a CHECKIN command for all volumes currently out-coded to the vault.
  2. Remove the DSN= control statement prior to the next VMS execution.

This method implies that the volumes have already been returned from the off-site location, as they do not appear on any VMS listings once the CHECKIN has been performed and the DSN= statement is removed.
