To prematurely remove a volume from VMS control and not re-vault the volume, issue a single CHECKIN command and do not use the volume for input. The (blank)VMS OUTCODE forces the TMSVMEDT program to ignore the record. If the volume is opened for input, however, VMS reassumes control of the volume.
