Vault Management reporting, tape movement and vault inventory can be produced using supplied CA Earl members. The output data set produced by the utility TMSVMVLT is used as input to CA Earl to generate the Picking List for Vault, the Distribution List for Vault, and the Inventory List for Vault.
The CA Earl members provided in the source library to create the vault reports (TMS Report-25) are:
The reports generated by these CA Earl members reflect the decisions made by TMSVMVLT regarding tape volume movement. The CA Earl members can be customized to meet site-defined sort sequences and report headings. The parameters passed to the vaulting utilities TMSVMEDT and TMSVMVLT can be passed to CA Earl and printed on the report.
TMEVLT01 produces the Picking List for Vault, and reflects those volumes that should be moved from an off-site location or from the tape library. A sample of this report is provided in the section Picking List for Vault.
TMEVLT02 can generate the Distribution List for Vault, and shows where volumes should be placed in a new off-site location or in the library. A sample of this report is provided in the section Distribution List for Vault.
TMEVLT03 creates the Inventory List for Vault, and shows the current location of volumes under VMS control, including volumes in the LIB and LIBR in-house vaults. A sample of this report is provided in the section Inventory List for Vault.
In each of these CA Earl members (TMEVLT01, TMEVLT02, and TMEVLT03), there is a section of commented code describing how to define report heading text that is associated with a specific vault name. This text is printed on the second line of the report. For complete details, see '**Vault name statements to define Vault Desc. in the Report Header**' within each of the CA Earl members. Enter the vault name in all caps.
