Automated Replies to IBM WTORs

CA 1 automatically replies to the following IBM messages:

IEC507D

This MVS message indicates that the EXPDT on the tape label is not past. CA 1 replies to this message if the tape is known to CA 1 and it is in scratch status. If it is a foreign tape CA 1 does not reply.

IEC534D

This MVS message indicates that the label on the tape is not compatible with the requested tape mount. Depending on your CTAPOPTN parms of LCHG, TCHG, and DCHG CA 1 either allows or disallows the change.

IEC704A

This MVS message is first issued as:

IEC704A L DDD, ,SL,DEN/TRTCH,JOBNAME,STEPNAME.

A tape is mounted and does not contain a standard label for a SL request. Processing goes through OMODVOL1/EMODVOL1 first, where the VOLSER can be picked up from the tape label or the UCB. The operator is prompted for the VOLSER. If the VOLSER was picked up from the label or the UCB, and it is controlled by CA 1, it replies with the VOLSER.

This message can also be issued as:

nn IEC704A REPLY 'U,OWNER INFORMATION' OR 'M'.

This message is issued when changing a 36-TRACK cart back to an 18-TRACK tape. The message can also be issued for other track changes such as 256->128 or 384->256 or 384->128. If the VOLSER is controlled by CA 1, it responds with U or U,TMVENDOR.
