OSGROUP Parmlib Member

The OSGROUP parmlib member contains group attribute definitions. Groups define policies applied to a subset of Virtual Volumes. Group attributes control certain behaviors such as if compression is used or which pool of VOLSERs a scratch tape should be chosen from to service the tape mount.

While active, the Subsystem can dynamically reload the group member attributes by using the SVTn REFRESH=GROUP console command.

Since the group definitions are local definitions that are Subsystem-specific, the SVTn REFRESH=GROUP console command must be issued for each Subsystem sharing a common group member that has been modified. If this is not done, then only the Subsystem for which the command was issued will pick up the changes.

OSGROUP contains an index section named Group Definitions, which references one or more group sections with customizable names.
