Test Login Fails with "Unknown user name or bad password"

Symptom

Test Login failed with error, "Login failure: unknown user name or bad password", although correct administrator account and password are entered.

Solution:

If you are in are workgroup environment and the target machine is running Windows XP, check that the target machine does not use Simple File Sharing. If it is, then there are two solutions to solve this problem:

• Join the target machine into a domain.
• Disable the simple file sharing on the target machine. For more information, refer to Windows documentation on how to automate this process.

Concurrent remote installations failed

If you run remote install utility on Windows XP, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows NT 4 Workstation; be aware that the operating system imposes a limit of 10 concurrent NetBIOS connections. You may want to run remote install utility on Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Server, or Windows NT 4 Server to overcome this limitation.
