Policy Proxy Servers distribute policies to segments of your organization and alleviate policy distribution from the CA TM Server. To distribute policies efficiently, the CA TM Server pushes policy updates to the Policy Proxy Servers assigned to a branch or sub-branch of your Organization Tree. By designating one or more Policy Proxy Servers to help distribute policies, you can decrease the amount of time it takes to distribute a policy update and reduce the amount of network bandwidth required.
By default, the CA TM Server is designated as a Policy Proxy Server for the branch of the Organization Tree that it resides in. However, in almost all medium-to-large scale deployments, the CA TM Server is in a branch by itself at the top of the Organization Tree. In this case, Policy Proxy Servers should be assigned within other branches and sub-branches.
