Upgrading from r8

When upgrading from r8 to r8.1, simply install the 8.1 ITM Server on top of the r8.0 ITM Server. There is no need to modify the contents of the CA TM database prior to or after installing r8.1. The installation wizard will detect the existing r8 product and prompt you to save your current settings.

Note: In general, it is always good practice to make a back-up copy of your database prior to performing an upgrade; however, do not attempt to import a copy of your r8.0 database into r8.1. The 8.0 database will not work with r8.1 as there have been changes to the database.

When upgrading to r8.1, consider the following:

• The 8.1 ITM Server can manage r8 clients.
• If you are currently running eTrust PestPatrol r8, you must deploy to clients to receive the new Realtime Protection enhancements and client GUI for eTrust PestPatrol.
• If you are only running eTrust Antivirus, you are not required to deploy to clients.
• Your existing r8 license will continue to function properly with r8.1, even though the license verification process has been modified. There is no need to request a new license for this upgrade.
