Welcome to AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 Service Pack 2b (formerly BPwin), which is a member of the AllFusion Modeling Suite. This file presents last-minute product information for AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 Service Pack 2b (SP2b).
The other products in the AllFusion Modeling Suite are AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler (formerly ERwin), AllFusion Model Manager (formerly ModelMart) AllFusion Model Navigator, AllFusion Data Model Validator (formerly ERwin Examiner), and AllFusion Component Modeler (formerly Paradigm Plus). On occasion, you may notice that the former name of the product is still referenced in the documentation and the product. Over time, we will gradually change all references to reflect the new name, but for this release, the new and former name of these products may be used interchangeably. Before you begin using this or any other AllFusion Modeling Suite product, please review the README that is installed with the product.
If you intend to share your process models with others using AllFusion Model Manager 4.1 SP2b, you must install AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b on all workstations on which the model may be saved or opened.
If you previously installed a version of BPwin 4.0 (including one of the Service Packs), the AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b installation program will detect the presence of the previous version and automatically install the necessary files independently.
The Start menu path has changed to: Start |Programs | Computer Associates | AllFusion | Process Modeler | BPwin. If you find that there are extra items in the start menu, uninstall and reinstall AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b.
If you want to preserve spell checking dictionaries that contain user additions from BPwin 4.0, do not uninstall BPwin 4.0 before installing AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b. Simply install AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b (in a different folder than BPwin 4.0) and the spell checking dictionaries will be copied from BPwin 4.0 to AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b automatically.
AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b is enabled for use with AllFusion Model Manager 4.1 SP2b. Refer to the AllFusion Model Manager README file and the AllFusion Model Manager Administrator Guide for installation instructions and advisory notes for using AllFusion Model Manager 4.1 SP2b with AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b.
When you export information from a dictionary, the Step 1 dialog of the export wizard now contains the "New Line" option in the Sub Field Delimiter group box. This option, which is also the new default option, places a new-line character at the end of each exported line of data within a single grid cell (for example, UDP list members).
Problem 93 In a scenario where two AllFusion Process Modeler users were connected to AllFusion Model Manager, with one user saving off line and another user working with the same model in Model Manager. When changes to the same model were saved to AllFusion Model Manager, the AllFusion MM conflict resolution screen did not display in AllFusion Process Modeler.
Problem 94 If you enacted no changes during the change review process in AllFusion Model Manager, a message box appeared saying there are no changes, even if there were changes that were just not being applied.
Problem 97 On occasion, certain diagram boxes in a Process Modeler diagram visible on the screen did not print to an HP500C printer.
Problem 98 There was a problem when you merged AllFusion Process Modeler models that were synchronized with different AllFusion ERwin DM models. A double-click on an arrow in the merged model, caused a GPF in AllFusion Process Modeler.
Problem 99 In IDEF3 diagrams and IDEF3 Scenario diagrams, there was a problem with naming Referents with existing dictionary names. For example, if you changed the name of a Referent using an existing dictionary name), other instances of the same referent would change elsewhere in the model. However, this was not true if two Referents already had the same name. The same problem also existed with External References and Data Stores in DFD diagrams and DFD FEO diagrams.
Problem 100 In IDEF3 models it was possible to create a decomposition activity containing a node number that already existed in the model.
Problem 101 The left edge of Data Stores (2 parallel lines) were spaced wider if the Data Store number was two digits than if the Data Store number was one digit. This occurred even when the display numbers option was turned off.
Problem 102 In the Name Property Sheet for Data Stores and External References, changes to the reference numbers allowed duplicates and were not saved.
Problem 103 This was a problem with UDPs in AllFusion Process Modeler. After deleting a UDP, the selected value changed for an activity. For example, imagine a UDP with list items "one", "two" and "three", with "two" being the assigned value. When you deleted "one" from the dictionary, the value assigned became "three".
Problem 104 -- Not all Import/Export functions worked from both the dictionary and from the file menu. Specifically, multi-select UPD selections could not be exported and imported from the activity and arrow dictionaries. Other related bugs included activity names not matching properly with existing activity names; carriage returns not always adding linefeeds in paragraph text; and trailing escape characters lost when the import file was divided into lines.
Problem 106 AllFusion Process Modeler models used to occasionally assign "garbage" entity names to entities imported from unnamed AllFusion ERwin DM models.
Problem 107 - Edits to UDP list members were not saved when made from the UDP Dictionary Grid. For example, when you changed the text of a list member in a List type UDP containing two or more list members, the list member you had changed sometimes reverted back to its original value.
Problem 108 -- If Export to BPX was repeated without the *.BPX file having been read by ERwin, a blank message box appeared on the second export. The box was unnecessary and was removed.
Problem 109 In the Go To Activity dialog (Edit|Go To Activity), the double click on an activity name did not function. You had to click the OK button.
Problem 110 In the Attribute dictionary, the 'Exchange with ERwin' checkbox got checked when the name was edited.
Problem 112 - Resize highlighting displayed for selected activities when the "Allow box to be resized" option was turned off in the Layout tab in the Model Properties dialog.
Problem 113 When saving an AllFusion PM model to AllFusion Model Manager, the Change Control Manager displayed a 'Delete BPFont' message. This message was inaccurate and no longer displays in the Change Control Manager.
Problem 114 The Zoom Out option was missing from the RMB menu in the Name grid in the Data Store, External Reference, and Referent dictionaries.
Problem 115 In an IDEF3 diagram, the Name Property Page could not be saved after selecting a new name from the Unused Activity Names list box.
Problem 116 Clicking on a resource name in the Resource Dictionary caused a GPF.
Problem 118 -- The initial height of grid items is larger so that they can be edited without first having to increase the cell height.
Problem 119 You could save a BPwin 2.5 model that was synchronized with an ERwin 3.5.2 model into AllFusion Model Manager after getting the message:
"The model has links to Entities in an unknown ERwin 3.5.2 model. It should have been synchronized with ERwin using EAX. If you check into MM now, the links to the ERwin model will be lost."
Problem 120 After repeated BPX/EAX exchanges and deletion of entities in BPwin followed by creation of new entities in BPwin, some entities are not inserted into appropriate existing ERwin subject areas.
Problem 121 On BPX export, the message "No source models are available" appeared when the model was linked to two unnamed AllFusion ERwin DM models.
Problem 124 -- The font lists in the default font dialogs did not match those in the property pages. They are now identical and a new drop down combo box was added listing the languages available for each font.
Problem 125 -- Moving activities to a new model via Model Explorer drag & drop caused a "Smartheap Library -- MEM_BAD_POINTER" error message.
Problem 126 -- Saving a model in which some cost centers had been deleted, to Model Manager resulted in a "R9: sCcent" error on restore. Though the model was saved to Model Manager, it could not be reopened.
Problem 127 -- In the Activity and Arrow dictionaries of models for which Single Selection UDPs have been defined, if a new row was created, the values of Single Selection UDPs were inadvertently copied from the first row.
Problem 129 -- UDP based swim lanes were not being edited correctly in the Display property page, allowing duplicate swim lanes and diagram corruption.
Problem 130 -- There was a GPF upon saving a model after adding colors to a color palette from any color property page.
Problem 132 -- Import of multi-select list values into UDP Dictionary Grid.
Problem 133 -- Duplicate Model Manager IDs were causing a crash when saving to Model Manager.
Problem 134 -- In rare circumstances, the program could GPF when opening an IDL file.
Problem 135 -- UDP Dictionary Keyword selections did not match those in the UDP Definition Editor.
Problem 139 -- A GPF was detected in the Diagram Manager when clicking a Scenario push button that should not have been visible.
Problem 140 -- A GPF was encountered when moving a Swim Lane label.
Problem 141 -- The referent arrow was sometimes missing from the Default Arrow Style item on the Model menu.
Problem 144 -- In some circumstances, a GPF was encountered when saving a model that had an activity and an arrow with identical names in IDL format.
Problem 146 -- The ALT+S hotkey on the Status property page caused the entire property sheet to close.
Problem 149 -- Importing UDPs, that already existed in the model, to the UDP dictionary grid could result in duplicates.
The Preferences dialog now contains the Organization Chart Box Delimiter text box where you can change the delimiter that distinguishes between Role Groups, Roles, and Resources in an organization chart diagram.
You can now right-click a Call arrow and choose Style on the shortcut menu to open a properties dialog where you can change Call arrow name, style and thickness.
In an Organization Chart diagram, you can now drag a sibling (a box on the same level) to another Role Group (a box on a different level).
When you connect to an AllFusion Model Manager database, AllFusion Process Modeler now checks to verify that it is compatible with the current version of the AllFusion Model Manager database.
Problem 29 - 11254334 -- RTB run time error selecting sort depth or breadth first options for Node Tree Picture RTF report. All sort options have been implemented for the Node Tree Picture report. Also, Arrow listings in RTF Picture reports are now in alphabetical order.
Problem 53 - Multiple entities with the same name in dictionary show as empty. Fixed in BPwin 4.0 and refitted in AllFusion Process Modeler (BPwin) 4.1.
Problem 54 - 11948875 Performance problem when saving a Process Modeler model on Windows XP.
Problem 55 - 11956641 - Activity Dictionary Export -UDP Problem - Import to grid with UDPs fills empty UDPs in the last column with the column header.
Problem 56 - 11974558 3 line activity names are truncated in Node Tree diagrams.
Problem 57 - 11974551 - Organization Chart issue. Clients want to be able to edit the delimiter in Org. Chart boxes from " - " to a user-defined string. See explanation under the General Considerations - Process Modeler 4.1 Service Pack 1 heading in this README.
Problem 58 - 11873960 Model Manager 4.1 Beta. Diagram name not changing when you change AllFusion Model Manager model name. Although you can edit the text in the dialog, the change is not saved.
Problem 59 - 8650019 RMB menu items for Call Arrows do not match property page tabs. See explanation under the General Considerations - Process Modeler 4.1 Service Pack 1 heading in this README.
Problem 60 - 12033099 - GPF during model merging - caused by considering undefined activity boxes.
Problem 62 12043976 GPF Viewpoint/Purpose text blocks not recognized by spelling checker.
Problem 65 12064495 GPF in Data Usage Report (Dictionary Report).
Problem 66 12097396 Non-administrator can't launch Process Modeler.
Problem 67 Radio Button Failure in Diagram | Add IDEF3 Scenario.
Problem 69 12102556 -- Swim Lane diagram name not appearing.
Problem 70 GPF -- DFD decompose to larger page size with "Include Externals and Data Stores" option selected.
Problem 71 12081479 Data Corruption -- Swim Lanes allowed activity reuse.
Problem 72 -- 12129540 Hard coded strings in Swim Lane Dialog (Japanese localization issue).
Problem 73 Data Corruption -- IDEF3 decomposition from IDEF0 Context Activity has wrong decomposition number.
Problem 74 GPF when opening the UDP Dictionary. Happened only on some models.
Problem 75 Hard coded string "Menu Bar" on the Menu Bar floating toolbar (Localization issue).
Problem 76 -- Author's initials don't make sense in names that contain DBCS characters -- Globalization issue.
Problem 77 -- Bad DBCS characters in Go To Activity Dialog (Globalization issue).
Problem 78 -- 12052874 -- IDEF3/Swim Lane reference number validation problem. Could not save changes after double clicking (or selecting "Name" from the right mouse Button menu) on an activity in a Swim Lane and making changes.
Problem 79 -- 12131033 -- Launching AllFusion Process Modeler (BPwin) as non-administrator user fails for Windows XP.
Problem 80 -- 12180476 -- Org. Chart siblings can't be in different Role Groups. See explanation under the General Considerations - Process Modeler 4.1 Service Pack 1 heading in this README.
Problem 81 - 12148359 -- UDP Multi-select value not saved if focus is not changed.
Problem 82 -- 12193738 - GPF on mouse move after IDL drag/drop.
Problem 84 -- 12198621 -- Certification issue -- Font Names corrupted on Model | Default Fonts dialogs.
Problem 85 -- 12191334 -- BPsyncER startup problem.

Problem 87 -- 12207007 -- Review Changes (AllFusion Model manager) did not save toggled changes back into the AllFusion Process Modeler (BPwin) model.
Problem 88 -- Selection tracking in Diagram Explorer out of sync. Sometimes it required two clicks to select the context diagram. There were also inconsistencies in selecting other diagrams from the Diagram tree.
Problem 89 -- 12023292 - Could lock and then save read-only models to AllFusion Model Manager (ModelMart).
Problem 91 -- 12023291 - BPsyncER to Process Modeler fails to update changed entity names.
Problem 92 -- 12227382 - Restoring an old ModelMart version of a BPwin model saved to a file does not trigger a 3-way merge.
Make sure that you have synchronized your BPwin 2.5 models with the ERwin 3.5.2 models before converting a ModelMart 3.0.2 database to an AllFusion Model Manager 4.1 database.
You will see a warning message when you save a BPwin 2.5 model to an AllFusion Model Manager database IF the BPwin 2.5 model has links to an ERwin 3.5.2 model. The links will be broken if you proceed with the save to the AllFusion Model Manager database.
For more information, refer to the AllFusion Model Manager Administrator Guide.
You can keep ERwin 3.5.2 models and BPwin 2.5 models synchronized external of AllFusion Model Manager by following these steps:
1) Verify that the BPwin 2.5 models and ERwin 3.5.2 models are synchronized.
2) Open the ERwin data model in AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler 4.1 SP2b and export to EAX.
3) Open the process model in AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b and import from EAX.
Note: You can maintain AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler model and AllFusion Process Modeler model synchronization by using the AllFusion Model Manager Synchronizer 4.1 SP2b or via BPX/EAX.
EAX import of multiple AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler data models with the same name will cause the import to be rejected. Pasting an AllFusion Process Modeler model into another model when each model is synched to different AllFusion ERwin DM data models with the same name is permitted. BPX import from an AllFusion ERwin DM data model that has the same name as another AllFusion ERwin DM data model already imported will also be permitted. In both cases, you will see a warning message you can bypass.
If you need to filter specific model entities, attributes, and subject areas for import, you can use BPX.
The Samples folder has a new default installation path:
...\Program Files\CA\AllFusion Process
Modeler\Samples\. If you change the default path, the
Samples folder will be a subfolder of the new path.
A new message prevents you from saving a list type UDP that contains no list members.
You can now save a dictionary that you have purged. In the past, if you only purged a dictionary, you did not have an opportunity to save on exit.
AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 dialogs and property pages to use the font DEFAULT_GUI_FONT, which should be based on the language of the operating system.

If using AllFusion Process Modeler 4.1 SP2b with AllFusion Model Manager, make sure you are using AllFusion Model manager 4.1 SP2b.
When you export the Data Store Dictionary, Referent Dictionary, or External Reference Dictionary, AllFusion Process Modeler does not export the object type (Entity, Arrow, or Other) associated with the object name. Hence, If you import the dictionary into another AllFusion PM model, the object type will default to "Other" and only one instance of that name will be permitted (dictionaries allow only a single occurrence of an object name).
Visual Compare graphics known to have display problems depending on color depth and computer memory.
When you do not check the Review Changes checkbox during an AllFusion Model manager model save, a model refresh will occur automatically.
