Reason:
There are two variations of this error message, depending on what BrightStor ARCserve Backup was trying to do when the error message was generated:
- If BrightStor ARCserve Backup was trying to open the temp file, the message reads Failed to open temp file [temp file name] for output. This message indicates that BrightStor ARCserve Backup could not open the temporary file it uses to groom the Activity Log.
- If BrightStor ARCserve Backup was trying to open the activity log, the message reads Failed to open log file [log file name] for input. This variation indicates that BrightStor ARCserve Backup could not open the Activity Log file to write the messages that are being kept.
Action:
To address this error message, check the available disk space on the file server and verify that you have appropriate rights to open and create files in the BrightStor ARCserve Backup home directory.
