Reason:

This error message is typically generated either by a media error or hardware error.

Action:

Check the following:

• Verify that there is a tape in the tape drive
• Check the tape for damage. See the media error Help topic.
• There may be hardware problems with the tape drive. Clean the tape heads and power the drive off and then on.
• Check the cables and ensure both ends of the SCSI bus are terminated.
