Reason:

This error typically indicates one or more of the following:

• There is no tape in the drive
• The tape is damaged
• Hardware error
• You have a faulty connection to the SCSI bus

Action:

For each of the causes, check the following:

• Verify that there is a tape in the drive
• Check the media error Help topic
• Check the Tape Server Messages topic and follow the instructions for media or hardware errors. Check the Tape Related Errors Help topic.
• Check the cable connections and ensure that both ends of the SCSI bus are properly terminated.
