Error 8046

Failed to Initialize Mapping Table. Disabling shared device. [Device:device number] [device vendor description] [SN: device serial number].

Reason:

This error message indicates that the Distributed server cannot see all the SAN-attached devices on the Primary server. Additionally, BrightStor ARCserve Backup has detected local devices attached to the Distributed server.

Action:

Ensure that the Distributed server can see the same SAN-attached devices as the Primary server. If Windows cannot see a device, then the SAN Option cannot see that device either. Ensure that all the devices visible to the Primary server are also visible to Windows on the Distributed server. In addition, ensure that device configuration is only being done on the Primary server. If device configuration is done on the Distributed server, your devices may not show up properly, resulting in mismatched mapping tables.
