1.0 Welcome

Welcome to the Localization Status Readme for CA Infrastructure Management and CA Infrastructure Performance. This Readme applies to products that are part of the CA Infrastructure Management product suite, including CA Infrastructure Management Data Aggregator (Data Aggregator) and CA Performance Center.

This readme contains lists and descriptions of issues related to translation. This document also describes other limitations related to non-English versions of the CA Infrastructure Management and CA Infrastructure Performance software.


1.1 CA Infrastructure Management Data Aggregator - Not Translated


1.1.1 Component and Device Type Names

Component types are not translated, and the following device type names are not translated when you view them in CA Performance Center report dashboards, groups, and inventory views:

Note: The Device Components label and description in the Group Rule dialog are not translated.


1.1.2 Data Collector Installer Download Page

The Data Collector installer download page, accessible at http://data_aggregator:port/dcm/install.htm, is not translated. For information about downloading the Data Collector installer without accessing the webpage, see the Data Aggregator Installation Guide.


1.1.3 Installation Scripts

Some scripts that are used to install Data Repository are not localized. The following scripts run in English: dr_validate.sh and dr_install.sh.


1.1.4 Monitoring Profiles

The names and descriptions of the product default monitoring profiles are not translated.


1.1.5 MIB Compiler Errors

MIB compiler errors are not translated.


1.1.6 XML Tag Names

The XML tag names for vendor certification and metric family import files are not translated.


1.1.7 EMS Installer for CA Mediation Manager for Infrastructure Management

The EMS installer for CA Mediation Manager for Infrastructure Management is not translated.


1.2 CA Performance Center - Not Translated


1.2.1 Custom Context Types from Data Sources

Custom context types synchronized by data sources are also not translated.

For example, the context types display in the Dashboard Editor. When you are editing the “Filter By” field, you get a “Select View Context” dialog that lets you select the Context Types implemented for CA Infrastructure Management Data Aggregator.


1.2.2 Entries in the Events Display Dashboard

CA Network Flow Analysis-related messages in the Events Display dashboard currently contain entries that are not translated for the following columns: Event Type, Event SubType, and Description.


1.2.3 Direction Terms

The Direction terms "In" and "Out" are not translated in the Interfaces Over Threshold view, which appears by default on the Enterprise Overview dashboard.


1.2.4 English String in CA Performance Center Installer

When you run the installer on a server with a locale set to a language other than English, the string "DEFAULT:" appears in English. This string is not translated. The inability to translate it appears to be a limitation of the third-party software used to perform the installation (InstallAnywhere).

This behavior also occurs if you install the software using the command line. InstallAnywhere puts the string “(DEFAULT: <XXX>)” after each prompt to indicate what the default option is if no input is specified (<XXX> is replaced with the appropriate value).


1.2.5 Overview Tab in CA Performance Center

CA Unified Communications Monitor uses some tabs on their top-level dashboards (similar to context page tabs, but for summary dashboards). The Overview tab is not translated. The workaround is to manually create a new dashboard that contains the CA Unified Communications Monitor views.


1.2.6 RESTful Web Service APIs

RESTful web service APIs are not translated. The RESTful web services also provide self-documenting web interfaces that are not translated.


1.2.7 DNS Names

DNS names are not translated.


1.2.8 Theme Names

Theme names are not translated.


1.2.9 Custom Names Restricted to Latin Alphabet

You cannot use non-ASCII characters for strings you customize, such as Group, Tenant, Domain, Roles, View Titles, Monitoring Profiles, Event Profiles, Discovery Profiles, and so on.


1.2.10 Limitations on Custom Strings

You cannot provide different translations for strings you customize, such as Group, Tenant, Domain, Roles, View Titles, Monitoring Profiles, Event Profiles, Discovery Profiles, and so on.


1.2.11 EMS Installer for CA Mediation Manager for Infrastructure Management

The EMS installer for CA Mediation Manager for Infrastructure Management is not translated.


1.3 Data Source Limitations


1.3.1 Data Source Limitations on Localization

Each supported data source potentially has its own limitations on localization. For example, the names and descriptions of the predefined monitoring profiles and event profiles that you can view in CA Infrastructure Management Data Aggregator administration are not translated.

CA Network Flow Analysis is translated into French, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese only. The CA Network Flow Analysis bookshelf displays in English if the user language preference is set to Traditional Chinese.

In addition, event information from CA Application Delivery Analysis and CA Unified Communications Monitor data sources, such as event descriptions and event types, is not translated.

Integration with CA eHealth is supported. However, integration with CA Performance Center is provided only in English versions of CA eHealth. Therefore, text provided by CA eHealth is not translated, regardless of the locale that the user has selected for CA Performance Center.


1.3.2 Using CA eHealth as a Data Source in CA Performance Center

CA eHealth can be used as a data source, but CA eHealth is not translated. Any text provided by CA eHealth is not translated, no matter what local language you use for CA Performance Center.

Japanese and French versions of CA eHealth do not support the CA Performance Center integration.


1.3.3 Custom Item Types from Data Sources

Several data sources support unique managed item types. For example, the CA Infrastructure Management Data Aggregator data source supports a "Device Component" managed item type.

When data sources synchronize managed items with unique item types, the items appear in the Inventory, but their names and types are not translated.


1.3.4 Data Source Role Rights

Some of the supported data sources have their own sets of role rights to let selected users access product features. In some cases, the data source user interface has not been translated into all of the supported languages. Therefore, the role rights that are synchronized from those data sources appear in the Edit Role Rights dialog are not translated.

Additional data sources like CA Application Delivery Analysis and CA Unified Communications Monitor also have limitations:


1.4 Third-Party Information - Not Translated


1.4.1 Third-Party Scripts

Any third-party scripts included in the product, which includes the information about a script's capabilities, are not translated.


1.4.2 License Agreements for Third-Party Products

The license agreements for third-party products are not translated. These license agreements are required to be presented with no alteration of any kind.


1.5 Known Issues


1.5.1 Drilldown Does Not Appear Supported in Chart Views

Affects Microsoft Internet Explorer only

Symptom:

In chart views that support the Zoom feature, the cursor style always appears enabled for selection of a zoom area. However, drilldown by clicking items in the legend is also supported despite the cursor style.

Solution:

This is a known issue with Internet Explorer. You can work around this issue by using the zoom cursor style to click items in the legend to drill down into detailed data. Or you can use another supported browser instead. The list of System Requirements in the Release Notes explains browser support.


1.5.2 Broken Link for Downloading the Bookshelf

A nonfunctional 'Download This Bookshelf' link appears on the CA Network Flow Analysis localized bookshelf accessible in CA Performance Center Help. The Bookshelf content is already resident on the installation system, however, so you do not need to download it.


1.5.3 Search Limitation in Asian Languages

Wildcard searches of the documentation bookshelf in Asian languages are not supported. Specifically, searches of the bookshelf websites that had been translated into Chinese and Japanese failed to return results if they included asterisk (*) and question mark (?) characters.

These wildcard characters can be used to search for keywords on bookshelves in English and French.

We have traced this limitation to a third-party indexing application.


1.5.4 Date Format Incorrect on Heat Charts

A known issue affects the date format on heat charts. The date format is incorrect on heat charts in Asian languages; correct date format is yyyy/mm/dd.

This issue is planned to be fixed in a future release.


1.5.5 Date Format Incorrect on the Performance Tab

The date format is incorrect in Asian languages on the Performance tab of the Device context pages.
