Release ID: B-08A-FSD |
| Version: 6.0.2200.14 |
| July 2008 |
FastStart provides a simplified, highly streamlined deployment mechanism, enabling organizations to rapidly deploy and start using Orchestria solutions across their organization. Orchestria's Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solution provides a set of predefined policies, searches, reports and a graphical dashboard, all designed to prevent unauthorized e-mail and Web activity, and all accessible in the iConsole.
Orchestria FastStart for DLP includes the following components:
- Base Installation: This provides the central management components. It installs a CMS and iConsole, plus policies, searches, reports, the dashboard for DLP solutions. You must install this component first.
- Network Boundary Agent Policy Engine: This is a policy engine and Socket API specifically for processing events captured by the Network Boundary Agent (NBA). An instance of this component is required for each NBA device deployed.
- File Scanning Agent: The File Scanning Agent (FSA) can scan and analyze files saved in local and remote file systems and apply appropriate controls.
- Client machines: When installing client machine, you can specify a FastStart CMS as the parent server.
This CD contains all the software you need to deploy Orchestria FastStart for DLP. It contains:
2.1 'Software' folder
This folder contains setup.exe plus associated software for launching the installation wizard (see section 4). It also contains the following subfolders:
- 'Docs' subfolder: This contains the Orchestria FastStart for DLP guide. It also contains various Orchestria APM guides, including the Deployment guide, Administrator guide and iConsole guide. These guides are in Adobe PDF format; you can download the latest free version of Acrobat Reader from the Adobe Web site: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
- 'Installs' subfolder: This subfolder contains software for installing Orchestria FastStart for DLP on base machines.
- 'Client' subfolder: This subfolder contains software for installing Orchestria FastStart for DLP on client machines.
- 'Support' subfolder: This subfolder contains various administrative utilities. These include: scripts for generating transforms used in managed deployment operations; an Orchestria APM deactivation utility; and a secure data management utility to export and re-import protected registry keys. For full details about each of these utilities, see the Support.htm file in this folder.
! You must only install Orchestria FastStart for DLP by running setup.exe in the \Software parent folder. We strongly recommend that you do not attempt to install by running individual .msi files contained in the \Installs subfolder.
2.2 'Redist' folder
This contains the following executables:
- dotnetfx.exe: Installs .NET Framework 2.0
- SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE: Installs Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
Hardware and software requirements for Orchestria APM components are provided in the Orchestria FastStart for DLP user guide; see section 2.1.
4.1 Database requirements
Orchestria APM FastStart for DLP supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008. In all cases, ensure that your database is correctly configured. In particular:
- Server authentication mode: You must up set up SQL Server to use the correct authentication method, otherwise the CMS will be unable to connect to the SQL Server database. In the SQL Server Enterprise Manager, edit the Security properties of the target CMS server so it uses SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode (formerly known as ‘mixed mode’).
- Network configuration: You must ensure that SQL Server can be connected to over a network:
- SQL Server Browser service: Ensure this service has started. By default, this service is off.
- TCP/IP: Enable the TCP/IP protocol. By default, this protocol is disabled.
- Static IP ports: The CMS connects to the DBMS using static ports. If your database host server is configured to use dynamic ports, you must change this so that the SQL Server instance hosting the Orchestria APM database uses static ports. This is particularly important when your CMS uses SQL Server 2005 Express.
Full details are in the Orchestria APM Database guide; in particular, see the ‘SQL Server Guidelines’ chapter.
4.2 Installing FastStart for DLP
The Orchestria FastStart for DLP installation starts automatically. However, if you have the Autorun feature disabled on your machine, you will need to start the installation manually.
To manually install Orchestria FastStart for DLP, run setup.exe to launch the installation wizard; find this file in the \Software folder. For full installation and uninstallation instructions, see the FastStart for DLP guide; see section 2.1.
i Note also the known upgrade issue in section 5.
Tracking ID 453-56 Repairs to FastStart will overwrite manually upgraded policies and reports
If you need to repair your FastStart installation using the Windows Add or Remove Programs applet, be aware that you will then need to re-install any FPP policies or DLP reports that had been upgraded since the initial deployment.
The FastStart installation mechanism uses Windows Installer to install FPP policies and DLP reports on your base machine. If you later manually upgrade any policies or reports (for example, by using a batch file), the upgrades will not be recognized by Windows Installer. This means that if you subsequently need to repair your FastStart installation, Windows Installer will replace any upgraded policies or reports with the versions that were originally installed. If this happens, you will need to manually re-install the upgraded policies and reports after running the repair.
