Before you begin, determine whether the Vista machine is part of a domain or part of a workgroup. Use a Domain Administrative account if the target computer is part of a domain. Grant a domain account with administrator privileges on the Vista machine and use that domain account to log on. You may then remotely install the CA ARCserve Backup Patch Manager on the Vista machine.
If the target computer is part of a workgroup, disable the client computer's local account filtering policy by creating a new registry key, as follows:
DWORD value: LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
Location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\system\
New Value: 1
After installation, set the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy setting to 0 to re-enable local account filtering.
