Welcome to Advantage VISION:Results. This file contains operating system support, system requirements, product installation considerations, general considerations, known issues, documentation information, and information about contacting CA Technical Support.
VISION:Results was tested on the IBM z/OS r1.7 operating system.
VISION:Results operates on IBM or compatible hosts.
VISION:Results uses standard SMP/E processing for installation and maintenance.
If you are using Advantage VISION:Results in conjunction with either Advantage™ VISION:Excel™ r7 or Advantage™ VISION:Sixty™ r12, a separate LMP key is required for each companion product.
For more information regarding the CA Common Services CAIRIM and its CA-LMP facility, see the CA Common Services for z/OS Administrator Guide. You also can review the information provided on SupportConnect at http://www.ca.com/support.
This section provides additional information about VISION:Results that is not documented elsewhere.
IBM is withdrawing support for ISAM beginning with z/OS r1.7, therefore VISION:Results cannot support access to ISAM data sets. (For details, see IBM United States Software Announcement 205-167 July 27, 2005.)
The LENGTH parameter is provided on the FILE command to allow programmers to determine the record length of input variable length files. It is recommended that programmers refer to this field to verify data field content to avoid reading past the end of the current record.
Existing VISION:Sixty r12 applications will execute successfully with VISION:Results r6.
VISION:Excel is a companion product to VISION:Results. If VISION:Excel is used, then VISION:Results r6 requires VISION:Excel r7 to guarantee successful operation.
This section describes known issues for VISION:Results and available workarounds.
The following PTFs contain fixes to problems found during the beta cycle before VISION:Results r6 became Generally Available.
After you have successfully installed the product, apply all available PTFs from the SupportConnect web site at http://www.ca.com/support.
The PTF numbers above refer to the numbers that will reflect the Default Options display. Note that the support site will list all available maintenance using the CA solution format QOxxxxx.
