Before you install the product, check the following prerequisites:
In order to install CA XCOM Gateway on Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2003, or Microsoft Windows 2008, you must log on to Microsoft Windows as a user with administrator privileges. On UNIX or Linux, you must log on as a user with root privileges.
The CA Embedded Entitlements Manager (EEM) installation requires library libstdc++.so.6 to exist in the usr/lib directory. This library can be installed from rpm libstdc++ if it has not been previously installed as part of your operating system.
CA XCOM Gateway requires that a copy of the JBoss Application Server must be installed. Additionally, even though the JBOSS_HOME environment variable is recommended but not mandated by JBoss, it is always required by CA XCOM Gateway. Before installing CA XCOM Gateway, verify that this environment variable is defined and correctly set to indicate the path for the JBoss installation directory.
For Windows, environment variables can be accessed in either of the following ways:
For Linux, set environment variables as follows:
JAVA_HOME=<JDK Installation Directory Path> export JAVA_HOME JBOSS_HOME=<JBOSS Installation Directory Path> export JBOSS_HOME
Note: Use this procedure to set the environment variables permanently on any of the supported Linux platforms.
CA XCOM Gateway needs access to a DB2 or MySQL database server; the product installer automatically creates the required database tables within a designated database.
Notes:
To enable creation of tables (and optionally, for MySQL only, the creation of a database), the installer requests the following:
This second account requires read and update privileges for all tables within the CA XCOM Gateway database, but does not need any structure or administration privileges or access to any other database.
To enable database access by CA XCOM Gateway, the installer also requires a copy of the JDBC connector/driver for the appropriate database system. In the case of DB2 only, a copy of the JDBC Driver License is also needed.
Approximately 40 MB of disk space is required for the software files created by a full product installation of CA XCOM Gateway. In addition, disk space is required for the CA XCOM Gateway database, logs, and trace files, and for the CA XCOM Gateway staging area, in which CA XCOM Gateway stores uploaded files. The amount of space needed varies, depending on the size of the database, the number and size of uploaded files, and configured retention periods.
