The RESID record is required if you are using the IBM Systems Management Application Programming Interface (API). The Systems Management API server must use APPC communications to the CA VM:Secure server.
Note: For more information about using and setting up the Systems Management API, see the appendix "Systems Management API Support" in the Administration Guide.
The RESID record, with the GLOBAL operand, is required if you are operating in a Single System Image complex. The product server virtual machines on every member system communicate with each other using APPC.
