Introduction
This document contains information for the CA VM:Secure and CA VM:Director products:
- CA VM:Secure is a security and directory management product that provides system and resource access management and control, directory and disk space management, and data encryption for the z/VM environment. It enhances z/VM security by combining all of the elements necessary for greater control of resources and system access and for more efficient management of the people who use the system. The integrated approach to security and directory management in CA VM:Secure ensures compatibility with current and future releases of z/VM, central control of access to system resources, and complete synchronization of authorizations, users, and resources defined to z/VM.
- CA VM:Director is an efficient and comprehensive directory and disk space management system for z/VM. It significantly reduces the time required to manage the resources defined in the z/VM directory and prevents costly errors in DASD mapping. With CA VM:Director, you can delegate aspects of directory management to your users without jeopardizing system control.
Both products manage the z/VM directory by distributing the burden of user ID and DASD management from a single system administrator to several directory managers. They also allow users to make some directory changes for their own virtual machines.
