*PWnn= [Password Values and History] (CA VM:Secure only)

Lists the contents of the current password or password phrase for a user (*PW00=), or the contents of previous values for a password (*PW01= through *PW99=). A *PW01= record contains the previous value of the password, and the *PW02= record contains the value before that. Up to 99 historic password values are retained. The default number of historic password values retained is eight, but the number may be specified on a MAXOLDPW record in the PRODUCT CONFIG file.

The format of this record is:

*PW00= D7938581A285409385A3409485408995
D7938581A285409385A3409485408995

The hexadecimal value for the password phrase. In this example, it is "Please let me in".

If the contents of a password phrase will not fit on one special comment record, the value is continued on the next record:

*PW00= D596A64089A240A3888540A38994854086969940819393408796968440948595
*PW00= 40A396408396948540A39640A388854081898440968640A388858999408396A4
*PW00= 95A399A8

The hexadecimal data from the three records is combined to form the password. In this example it is: "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country".

Important! These password value records must not be manually modified in any way. Only CA VM:Secure commands that set or modify passwords must be used to change passwords. Manual modification of these records can result in the inability to logon to the modified user ID.
