Directory Encryption (CA VM:Secure only)

Directory encryption is an optional feature of CA VM:Secure and is available only if you have the Rules Facility installed. It allows your site to encrypt your CA VM:Secure directory database at the time it is created with the VMXGNR utility.

With directory encryption, all information in the CA VM:Secure directory database is maintained in encrypted form. This prevents someone who inappropriately gains access to the disk containing the directory database from recognizing passwords or any other information in a directory entry. Authorized use of CA VM:Secure commands continues to provide clear–text display of directory contents.

Note: For more information about generating an encrypted directory, see VMXGNR Utility in the chapter "Utility Reference" in the Reference Guide.
