• New and Changed Features in r12.5.02—This chapter describes data integrity checking for raw events, CA User Activity Reporting Module connections to external ODBC databases, and the virtual automation API.

Administration Guide

Updates have been made to the following areas since the last release of this documentation: Queries and Reports, Scheduled Reports, and Log Storage. A new section entitled Event Collection Profiles has been added.

Affected topics include the following:

• Queries and Reports:
  • How to Create a Query and related topics—New and updated topics to cover the creation of custom ODBC queries.
  • Report Service Considerations—An updated topic outlining how to configure custom OBDC connections.
• Scheduled Reports:
  • How to Schedule a Report Job—Updated topics outlining how to schedule reports that target external ODBC databases.
• Log Storage:
  • Data Integrity Checks—New and updated topics to cover the application of digital signatures to raw events as well as archived databases.
  • How to set up Data Integrity Checks—New and updated topics explaining how to schedule or launch data integrity checks. The ability to check raw event data is new for release 12.5.02

The following section is new for this release:

• Event Collection Profile Tasks:
  • How to Create an Event Collection Profile—New topics outlining how to create event collection profiles for use by the Virtual Automation API. The Virtual API allows users to deploy event collection in virtual environments easily.

Virtual Automation API Guide

The Virtual Automation API Guide is new for release 12.5.02.

The CA User Activity Reporting Module Virtual Automation API Guide provides instructions for using the REST-architecture virtual automation API to set up log collection from virtual machines.

The guide is designed for administrators or web designers familiar with basic API structure and usage, CA User Activity Reporting Module queries and event refinement. They need administrator access to CA User Activity Reporting Module and other required third-party or CA products.

REST services use the HTTP protocol for all communication. Familiarity with both the HTTP protocol and REST (Representational State Transfer) architecture is required.
