Restrict Changes to Local Configuration Parameters

With central agent configuration, you can restrict the configuration parameters that can be set by a local web server administrator. You may want to do this if the SiteMinder administrator in your organization is not the same person who is responsible for the web server where the SiteMinder Agent is installed.

To restrict changes to local configuration parameters

  1. Log into the Policy Server User Interface.
  2. Click the System tab, and then click Agent Conf objects.

A list of Agent Configuration Objects appears.

  3. Double-click the Agent Configuration Object associated with the Agent on which you want to restrict local configuration.

    The Agent Configuration dialog appears.

  4. Click the AllowLocalConfig parameter, and then click Edit.

    The Edit Parameter dialog appears.

  5. Set the value of the of the AllowLocalConfig Parameter to yes.
  6. Click the Multi-value radio button.

    The Multiline Display pane appears.

  7. Click the Enter Single value field.
  8. Enter the name of the parameter to which you want to allow access, and then click Add.

The parameter appears in the list. Only those parameters in the list can be changed locally.

  9. Repeat Steps 7 and 8 to add more parameters.
  10. When you are finished adding parameters, click OK twice.

The Edit Parameter dialog and the Agent Configuration dialogs close. Your changes will be applied the next time the Web Agent polls the Policy server.
