Configure Regular Expression Matching

Regular expression matching for passwords is optional. You need only specify entries for expressions that passwords must match or must not match; if you have no expression matching requirements, do not create any regular expression entries.

Note: When you create or modify a Policy Server object in the Policy Server User Interface, use ASCII characters. Object creation or modification with non-ASCII characters is not supported.

To configure regular expression matching restrictions for passwords

  1. In the Password Policy Properties dialog, select the Regular Expressions tab.
  2. In the Passwords MUST Match These Expressions group box, add entries for each regular expression that passwords must match. Each regular expression entry is a name/value pair consisting of the expression definition and a descriptive tag.

You can also edit or remove existing required regular expression entries.

  3. In the Passwords MUST NOT Match These Expressions group box, add entries for each regular expression that passwords must not match. Each regular expression entry is a name/value pair consisting of the expression definition and a descriptive tag.

You can also edit or remove existing forbidden regular expression entries.
