Web Service Credentials group box
Require Credentials check box

If selected, indicates whether or not credentials must be presented to the Web Service by the Policy Server.

Use Clear Text Password check box

If the Require Credentials check box is selected, this setting indicates whether or not credentials will be sent to the Web Service in clear text. When this check box is selected, the Policy Server adds the password, in the clear, to the WS-Security digest. Otherwise, the Policy Server uses the base64-encoded SHA-1 digest of the password.

Note: If the Policy Server connects to a Web Service over an SSL connection, it is safe to send password in the clear, because the entire message is encrypted. However, not every Web Service may support base64-encoded SHA-1 password digests, in which case the combination of SSL encryption and clear text password may be required.
