Create a Rule Group

You can use a rule group to combine groups of rules you will be applying to the same policy.

To create a rule group

  1. If necessary, configure the Policy Server User Interface to display Rule Group objects. To do this, select View, Rule Groups from the menu bar.

    The Policy Server User Interface places a check mark in the View menu to the left of the menu selection and Rule Groups appear in the System tab of the SiteMinder Administration window.

    Note: If there is already a check next to Rule Groups in the View menu, selecting the option again will remove Rule Groups from the System tab.

  2. Create a rule group object. The Rule Group Properties Dialog opens.
  3. Provide a Name and, optionally, a Description of the new rule group.
  4. In the Agent Type group box, identify the type of agent for which the rule group is to contain rules by clicking on the appropriate radio button and selecting from the drop-down list box.

    The Agent Type for a rule group must correspond to the Agent Type of the rules within the rule group. When you add rules to the rule group, only rules with the same Agent type appear in the list of available rules. For more information, see the next section.

  5. Continue by adding rules to your rule group.
