Configure Advanced Password Options

Advanced password policy options allow you to configure pre-processing of submitted passwords prior to validation and storage (for example, forcing all characters to upper case) and to assign the policy a priority to allow predictable evaluation of multiple password policies that apply to the same user directory or namespace.

You use the Advanced tab in the Password Policy Properties dialog to configure advanced password options.

Note: Password pre-processing options are optional. You should specify a unique password policy evaluation priority for each password policy that may be assigned to the user directory or namespace.

Note: When you create or modify a Policy Server object in the Policy Server User Interface, use ASCII characters. Object creation or modification with non-ASCII characters is not supported.

To configure advanced password options

  1. In the Password Policy Properties dialog, select the Advanced tab.
  2. In the Password Pre-Processing group box, specify options to process submitted passwords prior to evaluation and storage.

Note: You should specify identical pre-processing options for each password policy that will be applied to the same user directory or namespace.

  3. If the password policy is one of multiple policies that will apply to the same user directory or namespace, specify an Evaluation Priority (0-999; 999 is highest) for the password policy and whether to Apply Lower Priority Password Policies in the Password Policy Priority group box.

For detailed information about each setting on the Advanced tab, see Password Policy Dialog—Advanced Tab.
