A Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption is required for a web application as it provides greater security. When SSL is enabled, remote clients access the web application using URLs that start with https://.
The following procedure describes how to enable SSL on IIS Manager.
Follow these steps:
The IIS Manager dialog appears.
The Site Bindings dialog appears.
The Edit Site Binding dialog appears.
The Site Bindings dialog appears.
The web application is enabled for SSL encryption.
Note: If you do not find an appropriate certificate, you cannot bypass the certificate warning screen. If you have a certificate that is issued to the URL, you can import the certificate in to the client to bypass the certificate warning. For more information about configuring a Secure Sockets Layer, refer the IIS 7 Operations Guide from www.microsoft.com.
