BusinessObjects Enterprise uses two different types of database:
An internal database that stores configuration, authentication, user, auditing, and other information related to BusinessObjects Enterprise. System databases can be created and used on a wide variety of database platforms.
Your CA product database is used to create reports, generate statistics, and collect business intelligence.
See the various Supported Platforms documents on the CA Business Intelligence DVD for a detailed list of supported environments and hardware requirements. These documents include specific version and patch-level requirements for databases, web application servers, web browsers, and operating systems. However, remember that your CA product's supported platforms take precedence over BusinessObjects Enterprise supported platforms.
