The CA SDM installation media includes the CA SDM Diagnostic Report Tool and Interval Logging Script for all operating environments. You use tools to troubleshoot performance problems with the assistance of CA Support Online to collect information for diagnosing problems with CA SDM. The tool creates a .CAZ file on Windows systems and a .tar.gz on UNIX/LINUX systems in the $NX_ROOT\diag\rpt directory. The file provides system and server configuration information such as the operating system type, version, and available system resources. You upload the file to your issue on http://support.ca.com to help CA Support Online diagnose the issue. The tool does not change or modify your CA SDM implementation.
The CA SDM startup enables the Interval Logging Utility by default. Use this utility for collecting performance statistics and to create a set of log files under the NX_ROOT\log directory. The utility rolls over the log files if they grow over 5MB and it keeps one current file and 9 backup files.
The names of the log files created have the following pattern:
xxxx_$HOSTNAME.out
Specifies the file prefix of the statistic being collected by the utility.
Specifies the name of the server where you run the utility.
Note: On Linux/UNIX, xxxx is always interval_log.
Note: For more information about using this diagnostic tool and logging script, see the Administration Guide.
