Agent and AIM Upgrades

You can upgrade to SystemEDGE Version 5.6 from any upgrade-eligible version of SystemEDGE:

• 4.3
• 5.0.0
• 5.0.1
• 5.0.2
• 5.1.0

The installer creates an upgraded directory at the root of the original installation path and copies configuration files from the previous release to it. When the agent starts for the first time, it migrates the configuration data to the newly created data directory. When upgrading SystemEDGE to version 5.6, upgrade Advanced Encryption and all the corresponding AIMs to the latest versions.

Note: SystemEDGE Version 5.6 does not load AIMs of previous CA Virtual Assurance releases.

You can upgrade SystemEDGE in either of the following ways:

• Remote Deployment through CA Virtual Assurance to a system with an upgrade-eligible agent installed.

  Note: If you want to upgrade SystemEDGE and AIMs, use a single Remote Deployment job that contains SystemEDGE, Advanced Encryption, and all required AIMs. For more information about Remote Deployment, see the Remote Deployment section in the Administration Guide.

• Custom Manager installation on Windows. This option upgrades all the installed components. Select any additional agents and AIMs you want to install.
• Manual installation on a system with an upgrade-eligible agent installed.

  To perform an upgrade, install the agent as described in Install the Agent on Windows or Install the Agent on UNIX.

If an upgrade of an older agent version is not supported, do the following:

• For earlier versions of SystemEDGE, uninstall the agent and then install SystemEDGE Version 5.6. You can save all configuration data before uninstalling and apply this data to SystemEDGE Version 5.6.
