Populate a Local System Image with Specific Resources Using the Auto Populate Facility

The Express Setup Facility automatically sets up an initial system image for all the resources on your system. The AutoAssist Auto Populate Facility enables you to select particular resources you want to define to the system image. After the facility defines the resources, you can customize the definitions individually or add definitions not reflected in the local current resource list. The facility does not overwrite existing definitions.

Important! Do not use this facility to create a large number of resource definitions in an active system image. The process can degrade system response time.

Use the Auto Populate Facility to quickly create definitions in a system image for specific current resources on the local system.

To populate a local system image with specific resources using the Auto Populate Facility

  1. Enter /RADMIN.AD.A to access the Auto Populate Facility.

    The Auto Populate Menu appears.

SOLVPROD-------------- AutoAssist : Auto Populate Menu ------------------$RM011 Select Option ===> D - Build DASD Devices I - Build Initiators J - Build Jobs L - Build Lines P - Build Printers S - Build Started Tasks T - Build Tape/Cartridge Devices X - Exit System Name .........+ SOLV ( Required for all options ) Version .............+ 0001 ( Required for all options ) Template ............+ DASD ( Required for all options ) Resource Mask ........ __________________ ( Optional ) On Line Only? ........ The selections are tagged as selected. If you want to unselect a selected resource, enter U beside the resource. If you want to unselect all selected resources, enter ALL U at the Command prompt.

Important! If you want to cancel the operation, you must press F12 (Cancel) before the next step.

  5. Press F6 (Action) to build the resource definitions.

The selected resources are defined in the system image.
