Windows Custom Installation

To install the Report Server on Windows

  1. Be sure that you have reviewed the installation checklists.
  2. Be sure that you have gathered the required information for the installer.
  3. Exit all applications that are running.
  4. Navigate to Disk1\InstData\VM and double-click installation_media.
    installation_media

    Specifies the Report Server installation executable.

    The installer starts and prompts you for a locale.

    Note: For a list of installation media names based on operating system, see the installation and upgrade considerations in the Policy Server Release Notes.

  5. Select English from the drop-down list and click OK.

    The installer introduction appears.

  6. Click Next.

    The license agreement appears.

  7. Accept the license agreement and click Next.

    The installer prompts you for an installation type.

  8. Click Custom and click Next.

    The installer prompts you for an installation location.

  9. Specify the installation location and click Next.

    The installer prompts you for a BusinessObjects Administrator password.

  10. Use your completed installation credentials worksheet to enter the required value and click Next.

    The installer prompts you for a report database type.

  11. Select Use Existing DBMS and select a supported database type.

    Important! The Report Server is a CA common component that CA products can share. As such, the installer lets you configure the report database to database types and versions that other products support, but SOA Security Manager does not. For a list of supported database types and versions, see the SOA Security Manager r12.1 SP3 Platform Support Matrix.

    The installer prompts you for database–specific values.

  12. Use your completed report database worksheet to enter the required values and click Next.

    The installer prompts you to enable auditing.

  13. Select No and click Next.

    Note: The Report Server audit database is used to audit activities specific to the Report Server and is not used for SOA Security Manager audit–based reports. A SOA Security Manager audit database is required to run audit–based reports.

  14. Select Yes and click Next.

    Note: This installs an embedded version of Tomcat. SOA Security Manager only supports this web server type and version.

    The installer prompts you for web server configuration settings.

  15. Use your completed Apache Tomcat worksheet to enter the required values and click Next.

    The installer prompts you to configure sample databases and templates.

  16. Select No and click Next.

    Note: The SOA Security Manager Report Server Configuration wizard installs the required reporting templates. You run the wizard after installing the Report Server.

    The installation summary appears.

  17. (Optional) Click Create Response File to save a silent installation properties file with the current installation settings.
  18. Review the installation settings and click Install.

    The Report Server is installed.
