Web Tier Performance

When a SOA Agent intercepts a request sent to a web or application server, the SOA Agent makes the following calls to the SOA Security Manager Policy Server:

• isProtected
• isAuthenticated
• isAuthorized

Each of the previous calls generates traffic between the SOA Agent in the Web Tier, and the Policy Server in the Application tier. The following settings can help you adjust the performance of the Web Tier:

• Change the timeout interval for Policy Server requests.
• Change the number of sockets that are available for a SOA Agent to use for Policy Server connections.
• Use the SOA Agent caches to reduce the number of calls a SOA Agent makes to the Policy Server.
