User Interface

  1. Start CA RCM DNA.

When DNA is initially opened, the desktop is empty.

  2. Go to File, Open.
  3. Sample data files are located in the \Sage Demo folder under the installation directory. Choose the ConfigWithRoles.cfg file.

The desktop display the active.cfg file. When a configuration file is opened, three panels are displayed, each showing a different part of the data that comprises a configuration: Users (left panel), Roles (middle panel), and Resources (right panel). The configuration data appears by default in three vertical panels. The View menu contains an option to display the configuration window in one of three ways: vertical panels, tabs, horizontal panels.

  4. You can open several files simultaneously in the DNA main window: configuration files (.cfg), users database (.udb), resources database (.rdb), auditing cards (.aud) and policies (.bpr). The menu bar and toolbar expand to include available options relevant to the type of data files that is active.

DNA enables performing role discovery and audit of users, resources and roles. Most application options can be activated from the menu bar, and frequently-used options can be activated from the toolbar, shortcut keys or by right-click controls.

Note: We recommend using right-click menu controls, which display context-sensitive options relevant to the active window without the necessity to navigate the menu bar structure. Right-click menu controls are especially well-developed for working with configurations and its three types of data: users, roles, resources.

The Audit menu contains all audit options and current management options for users, resources and roles.

The Audit menu also contains the Policy Compliance module, which enables performing auditing by applying a set of external rules to existing data.
