CA RCM is implemented on AIX in a clustered configuration of computers running under a WebSphere Application Server. You define separate clusters for the CA RCM and Workpoint server applications. You can accommodate smaller data volumes by defining single-server clusters, approximating a standalone implementation.
An existing database server hosts the CA RCM databases.
You cannot install the CA RCM client tools and Workpoint Designer application on AIX computers. You install these applications on a separate Windows computer running a supported 32-bit operating system. To let the Workpoint Designer communicate with the AIX-based Workpoint server application, install and configure a special WebSphere application client on this computer, as shown in the following diagram:

Note: Oracle Database does not support the CA RCM external reporting database. You can use the DBUtil tool to create and configure the reporting database on a Microsoft SQL Server after you complete the CA RCM installation against Oracle Database.
