Using OPSPARM to Set Message Severity Levels
While initializing CA OPS/MVS or after it becomes active, you can use the OPSPARM command processor to display and set severity levels for CA OPS/MVS messages.
Reasons to change message severity levels include:
- To delete messages. Setting the message severity to H removes unwanted CA OPS/MVS messages from all system consoles. Such messages are written only to the system log.
- To highlight messages. Setting the message severity to S makes important CA OPS/MVS messages non-scrollable and causes them to display in high intensity.
- To automate messages. Setting the severity of CA OPS/MVS messages to O or J allows the CA OPS/MVS AOF feature to automate them. Messages with other severity levels are not eligible for automation. Assigning O severity to messages causes the AOF to treat them like messages with H severity; messages with J severity are treated like messages with I severity. That is, the AOF writes O messages only to the system log and returns I messages to their original destination (for example, the REXX external data queue).
