CVI priorities are set according to the degree of specificity of the subnet mask that you provide. Subnet masks that are most specific are highest priority. If you configure a CVI for an IP address with a subnet mask that denotes a single node (such as 192.168.20.2/32), the CVI has the highest priority. If you specify an IP address with a subnet mask that identifies multiple possible nodes (such as 192.0.0.0/8), the CVI has a lower priority. Establishing priorities in this way helps ensure that CVI traffic to a host on a large subnet remains separate from other traffic on the subnet.
Note: Reports that are generated for traffic between two CVIs with the same priority can be inconsistent.
