CA Mainframe Application Tuner is now fully integrated with the symbolic support features of CA Application Quality and Testing Tools.
The term symbolic support refers to the use of source code information from application programs. This information enhances and simplifies the use of CA Application Quality and Testing Tools products for z/OS.
As it relates to CA Mainframe Application Tuner, the supported products are ProtSym and CA Endevor® Software Change Manager (CA Endevor SCM).
Until now, all program listings used in CA Mainframe Application Tuner had to be manually registered using the CA Mainframe Application Tuner Listing Registration component. Dynamic Registration Support allows users who have ProtSym (and optionally, CA Endevor SCM) to designate the names of up to eight ProtSym libraries to be searched. After designating names, during analysis, if a listing is requested from the DelayView Locations panel, CodeView panel, CallerID panel or Histogram panel, and that listing is not currently registered, CA Mainframe Application Tuner will attempt to locate the listing using the information provided through the CA Mainframe Application Tuner Profile Parameters panel.
As a way to facilitate dynamic symbolic support, CA Mainframe Application Tuner now captures csect footprints created by CA Endevor SCM. ProtSym can populate its repositories with listings that reside in CA Endevor SCM. The captured footprints are used to identify the correct CA Endevor SCM listing library.
