Your CA MICS System Administrator may have installed CA MICS so that you can reach the CA MICS Workstation Facility by selecting an option on your installation's ISPF primary option menu or another ISPF menu. If this is the case, when you start ISPF you will see a menu similar to the one shown in Figure 1-1. /---------------------- ISPF/PDF PRIMARY OPTION MENU ------------------------\ |OPTION ===> MWF | | USERID - yourid | | 0 ISPF PARMS - Specify terminal and user parameters TIME - 10:19 | | 1 BROWSE - Display source data or output listings TERMINAL - 3278 | | 2 EDIT - Create or change source data PF KEYS - 24 | | 3 UTILITIES - Perform utility functions | | 4 FOREGROUND - Invoke language processors in foreground | | 5 BATCH - Submit job for language processing | | 6 COMMAND - Enter TSO command or CLIST | | 7 DIALOG TEST - Perform dialog testing | | 8 LM UTILITIES- Perform library management utility functions | | C CHANGES - Display summary of changes for this release | | MWF CA MICS - CA MICS Workstation Facility (MWF) | | T TUTORIAL - Display information about ISPF/PDF | | X EXIT - Terminate ISPF using log and list defaults | | | |Enter END command to terminate ISPF. | | | | | | | | | | | \----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Figure 1-1. Selecting MWF from the ISPF/PDF Primary Option Menu Select the CA MICS Workstation Facility option by typing MWF after the option prompt, and pressing ENTER. You will see either the Welcome New CA MICS User panel (Figure 1-2) or the primary CA MICS Workstation Facility (MWF) panel (Figure 1-3). The Welcome New CA MICS User panel appears the first time you use the online facility so that a set of user tables can be allocated for you. After they are initially allocated, you will go directly to the MWF panel in future start-ups.
/------------------------ Welcome New CA MICS User --------------------------\ |Command ===> | | | | Allocation failed for: youruserid.MICS.USER.TABLES | | | | Press ENTER to automatically allocate this data set and continue. | | Press END to terminate without allocating the data set. | | Note: Allocation failure is normal for new users. If you were an | | existing user, you may want to terminate and investigate the failure. | | | | The following parameters are required. Specify sufficient space for | | your MICF parameters and inquiries, your documentation bookmarks, etc. | | | | Space Type ===> CYLINDERS (CYLINDERS/TRACKS/BLOCKS) | | Primary Space ===> 2 Secondary Space ===> 1 | | Directory Blocks ===> 25 Block Size ===> 6160 | | | | The following parameters may be optional in your environment. However, | | you should specify a Unit/Volume combination that will not be subject | | to scratching. | | | | Unit Name ===> (3380,3350,DISK,SYSDA,etc.) | | Volume Serial ===> ______ (Site dependent value) | | | \-\-\----------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Figure 1-2. Welcome New CA MICS User Panel Your CA MICS System Administrator may have specified a default unit name or volume serial identification. If so, press ENTER to allocate the data set for your user tables. Depending on your site's requirements for allocating permanent data sets for TSO users, the Unit Name and Volume Serial parameters will be either optional or required. If you need to change the Unit Name or Volume Serial parameters, enter the correct information after the prompts and press ENTER. MWF allocates the data set for your user tables and displays the primary MWF panel shown in Figure 1-3.
