1.1 Primary Areas of Application
The CA MICS Network Analyzer provides analysis and reporting
capabilities that help you to manage complex IBM TCP/IP and
SNA networks in the following areas:
o Network Service - The CA MICS Network Analyzer provides
network, host, and total response time information,
including average, peak, and response distribution
percentages to allow you to evaluate actual service
against established service levels.
o Network Reliability - The CA MICS Network Analyzer
information concerning temporary and permanent errors in
the network's logical and physical components allows you
to identify patterns and trends so that you can focus on
the specific components that are degrading network
reliability.
o Network Performance - As network resources become
overloaded, network performance deteriorates. CA MICS
Network Analyzer information allows you to anticipate,
identify, and correct the conditions that can cause this
deterioration.
o Network Activity - The CA MICS Network Analyzer provides
information about network activity patterns and workloads
that allows you to track and understand current activity
and plan for future requirements.
o Network Charges - The CA MICS Network Analyzer provides
information (including connect time and characters
transmitted) suitable for billing network resource users.
The integration of CA MICS Network Analyzer data and CA
MICS Accounting and Chargeback permits you to perform
accounting functions using SNA network information from
CA NetSpy Network Performance, the NetView Performance
Monitor (NPM), the NetView Session Monitor (NLDM), and
CA NetMaster Network Performance.
In addition, the CA MICS Network Analyzer provides TCP/IP
analysis and reporting capabilities that help you to
manage your TCP/IP activity across an enterprise wide
network.
