6.1.1 VM Account Data Options
In VM, the user ID for the accounting virtual machine is
defined as part of the SYSTEM_USERIDS statement (ACCOUNT1 or
ACCOUNT2) in the system configuration file or in the SYSACNT
macro in the HCPSYS ASSEMBLE file. The accounting records
are created and kept in storage by the CP accounting system
service; and sent to the accounting virtual machine's disk
when requested. The accounting virtual machine uses the IUCV
facility to connect to the CP accounting system service and
transfers the record from storage to disk. There can be more
than one accounting virtual machine defined in VM/ESA Release
2.0 or later systems.
The JOURNALING statement in the system configuration file, or
the SYSJRL macro in the HCPSYS ASSEMBLE file determines the
following:
o whether to include the journaling facility,
o whether to enable the system being initialized to set
and query the journaling facility,
o and what to do if someone tries to log on to the system
or link to a disk without a valid password.
They determine whether or not Account journal records (types
04, 05, and 06) will be generated. For journal records to be
created, either specify JOURNAL=YES on the SYSJRL macro in
the HCPSYS ASSEMBLE file or FACILITY ON on the JOURNALING
statement in the system configuration file.
Example: (in CONFIG SYS)
System_Userids,
Account DISKACNT AUTOLOG,
...
Journaling,
Facility on,
Set_and_Query on,
Logon,
Account after 3 attempts,
Lockout after 9 attempts for 10,
Link,
Account after 5 attempts,
Message after 4 attempts,
Disable after 6 attempts
Account data is queued for the accounting virtual machine's
retrieval even if the virtual machine is not logged on and CP
is started with the COLD option. The RECORDING ACCOUNT
command can be used to start or stop the creation of account
records.
By default, CP lets 20 account records accumulate in storage
before it notifies the accounting virtual machine. The limit
can be changed by issuing the command:
RECORDING ACCOUNT LIMIT xx
where xx is the new limit.
Once the account records have been retrieved from storage and
placed on the accounting virtual machine's A-disk, there are
two VM Data Transfer Programs from which to choose:
1. The accounting virtual machine can be set up to signal
the VM Data Transfer Program, so VMT can pick up the data
from the A-disk.
2. It may punch the account records to the virtual reader of
the VMT.
For information on setting up VMT for account data transfer,
see section 7.1 Transfer Parameters in the VM Data Transfer
Program Guide.
