5.2.1.3 VMCCMU Usage Considerations


Special considerations or techniques related to using the
VMCCMU File are provided below:

o  The information in the VMCCMU File comes from VM Account
   data.  This is event data.  Type 01 records are created
   when a user logs off, when the account number for the
   virtual machine is changed, and at midnight (if the
   virtual machine is logged on).  Since there may be more
   than one observation for a user per session in the DETAIL
   time-span, the element CMUNRSES must be examined to
   determine whether an observation represents a session
   start.  CMUNRSES will be one for a new session.

o  The element CMUSESTM is the amount of time the virtual
   machine was logged on to VM.  This may not be equal to
   terminal connect time, because it is possible to run a
   virtual machine disconnected (without a terminal).  This
   is typical of service machines such as RSCS and CMSBATCH.
