File Definition

A predefined entry exists in CA JARS Wizard, specifying the following information for all supported primary files:

• FILE NAME - The name of the glossary that contains further information about the records in the file.
• RECORD LENGTH - The maximum record length of a record in the file.
• BLOCKING FACTOR - The number of logical records that make up a physical block.
• RECORD FORMAT - The format of the records in the file, as follows:

  for fixed unblocked

  FB

  for fixed blocked

  V

  for variable unblocked

  VB

  for variable blocked

  VBS

  for variable blocked spanned

  U

  for undefined
