OpenVMS users are called accounts in CA Identity Manager. You manage your accounts in secured databases or security systems called endpoints. The term OpenVMS endpoint traditionally refers to a collection of files. It has a physical location similar to a file folder on a Windows system. You can move from endpoint to endpoint and view or edit the files in the endpoint.
Besides the traditional type of endpoint, OpenVMS also uses another type of endpoint called a database endpoint. OpenVMS systems store accounts and access permissions in database endpoints using the AUTHORIZE utility. This is the database endpoint that CA Identity Manager manages. Other database endpoints, such as OpenVMS Mail and Oracle OpenVMS, include account and access information specific to these applications only. These applications are not supported by CA Identity Manager.
