Error When Assigning Group Names that Contain Angle Brackets

Symptom:

I acquired and explored a Lotus Notes/Domino endpoint and tried to a assign an account to a group that contained an angle bracket, for example, Greater than >, to the account in the CA Identity Manager User Console. I received an error message similar to the following:

Failed to Execute Assign LotusNotes/DominoGroup. ERROR MESSAGE:

JIAMOPerationsException:Javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19

Solution:

CA Identity Manager does not support assigning groups that contain angle brackets.

To resolve, assign the account to the group using the Lotus Notes Domino native application. Groups with angle brackets assigned to accounts using the Lotus Notes Domino native application appear with a backslash (\) in the CA Identity Manager User Console. For example:
