Export Certificate and Key Data

If the Federation Manager key database has a private key/certificate pair, you can export the certificate of the pair and send it to your federation partner. Using this certificate, the partner can verify the digital signature created with the certificate's associated private key.

You can export a private key to store it in a location other than the Federation Manager key database as a backup, but this key should never be shared with anyone else.

To export certificate and key data

  1. From the Certs & Keys tab, select Certificates and Private keys.

The View Certificates and Private Key window displays.

  2. Select Action, Export for the entry in the Certificate and Private Key List you want to export.

The Export Key Store Entry dialog displays.

  3. Select the format of the file you want to create from the exported data.

Note: You can click Help for a description of fields, controls, and their respective requirements.

  4. Choose the file format.
  5. Click Export.

You are prompted to open or save the file on the local system.

Federation Manager generates the encoded file content representing the key or certificate.
